President & Founder of Mohini Rawat Physical Therapy, PC

I’m excited and deeply grateful to share some meaningful news with our community.

I was recently recognized as a Fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (FAIUM)—a national honor awarded to a small and select group of professionals who have made significant contributions to the field of medical ultrasound.

I’m especially proud to share that I am the first physical therapist to ever receive this distinction.

What is the AIUM—and why does this matter?

The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) is one of the most respected organizations in healthcare when it comes to setting standards for how ultrasound is used safely, ethically, and effectively. It brings together physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals who are dedicated to improving patient care through ultrasound.

Being named a Fellow means that my work over many years—caring for patients, teaching clinicians, mentoring providers, and advancing ultrasound education—has been recognized at a national level.

What this means for patients

While this recognition is personally meaningful, what matters most is how it benefits the people I care for.

Ultrasound allows us to see muscles, tendons, nerves, and joints in real time—without radiation. When used correctly, it helps improve diagnostic accuracy, guide procedures more safely, and tailor treatment to each individual.

This recognition reflects an ongoing commitment to:

  • Using ultrasound responsibly and safely

  • Staying current with best practices and research

  • Translating advanced imaging into better, more personalized care

Gratitude and looking ahead

I’m incredibly thankful to the AIUM leadership, colleagues, and students who have supported this work. Most importantly, I’m grateful to my patients for placing their trust in me.

As the first physical therapist to receive the FAIUM designation, I hope this also highlights the growing role of physical therapists in advanced imaging and collaborative, patient-centered care.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
